Description
This is a kit to make 4 Sashiko Butterfly and Cherry Blossom Coasters. There are 2 designs and 2 of each. The fronts are 100% cotton and have the designs hand drawn on in heat erasable pen so that once you have finished stitching you can iron your coasters and the pen marks will disappear.
In the centre of the coaster is a thermalam wadding and the backing fabric is again 100% cotton but this time a Japanese print design in Red and Gold. The backing fabric then folds over on to the front of the coaster to form the binding and give a beautiful neat edging to your handiwork.
Sashiko is an ancient form of sewing originating from Japan as a style of mending to start with. Now it is commonly found used as decoration in many very beautiful and can be elaborate designs. A very easy stitch to start with as it is just a simple running stitch sewn in neat even lines.
This is a fabulous kit to be given as a gift either made up or for the recipient to make up themselves.
